Riptides Poem by Sarah Griffith

Riptides

Two beautiful women
Formed of the sea
Born into innocence
A life of seduction soon to lead

Through glistening currents
And colors of youth,
Wisps sweet, yellow sunshine
With a long, soft swoosh.

Intrigued by pure beauty,
As it draws thee south,
First love's impulsive eye
Will learn the harsh pains of truth.

As Mommy and Daddy
Say, 'Storm's coming, lets go! '
Sunbathing riptides
Pull you out alone.

Slipping back out to sea
Where creation began,
Long, long lost
The warm, soft sand.

'No, No, Please No!
I only wanted to play'
Just for a moment,
A minute, A day.'

But the beautiful women
Formed of the sea
Took the colors of youth
Away from me
