River Poem by Sara Javed

River

Large fleecy clouds crowded the skies,
so blue and shimmering.
They hid the sun, like a cloak covers your body,
Just a few, splendorous rays were visible.
Hills, covered with tall, dark pines and fir,
Surrounded the beauteous river,
As it diverged into the shades of red and blue,
rushing forward without ceasing,
washing away rocks and pebbles.
I say on a rock, and dipped my feet,
into the divergent water,
which colored my clothes red.
It threatened to drown me, take me away,
But I just smiled, as the sun shone on my back,
so warm and reassuring.
The waters, cold but strangely inviting.
Threatening people to fall in love with it.
Creating a perfect sense of nostalgia,
reminding me of the person who I loved,
Too stubborn to love back.
Just like the river that rushed past,
And the clouds that kissed my face.
