Road Ahead Poem by Helga Symon

Road Ahead

Alas! The road is calling still,
I cannot waste another moment.
It's time to gather up my will,
Defeat the laziness -my torment.
I'd rather lie and sleep and dream.
I'd rather never move a hair.
A cozy cup would nearby steam.
Dark drapes would cover up my lair.
Alas! I wouldn't let me rest,
The roads are numerous and cryptic.
It kills me not to put to test
This single by Fate provided ticket.
Let my feet grow so tired and sore
And soft old coach remain a memory.
At least I never will get bored
And will remain my own best sentry.
So farewell my toys and books,
Sleep tight my fluffy faithful bear.
The world is full of baits and hooks
But at this point I do not care.
