Roots Of Sorrow Poem by Michael Nimo Cudjoe

Roots Of Sorrow

In the depth of heartache, where grief was born,
Of a sorrow that was made its horn.
Where happiness and Joy turned to mourn,
And lightness and brightness twisted to dawn.
From memory of joy now haunting and taunting with scorn.
Its stem was loss, from love that was gone,
Where sadness and cry was adorn,
Why, Because death was sworn,
Why, Because life was worn.
Leaving the deceased family in forlorn,
And his friends and loved ones in thorn.
Roots of sorrow, where shadows are born,
Yet we rejoice, because death is our norm.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem explores the pain of grief, sorrow, and loss. It describes how heartache can transform into a deep sadness that becomes a part of who we are. The poem talks about how happiness and joy can fade away, replaced by mourning and emptiness. It attributes this pain to the loss of love and the memories that haunt us. The poem asks 'Why? ' and answers that death is a natural part of life. It concludes by accepting that death is a part of human experience, and even in sadness, there's a deeper understanding of life.
