Rose Poem by Joy Howarth

Rose

oh, the life of a rose
a blossoming beauty.
Days have gone by,
yet the growing was still fresh,
watering it everyday to keep its unstained love,
day after day month after month,
not missing a beat,
then reality came knocking at the door,
answering it we began forgetting,
forgetting the growing beauty we cared for,
colors change along with the season,
in desperation we tried to feeds its need for water,
a rushing stream hit the stem
the rush stirred a few droplets
dropping onto the petals,
they made their way down,
I knew it was too late,
So it seems by now,
that our hearts have figured it all out,
what we wanted what we needed,
was a thing of the beginning,
oh how these petals fall to the floor,
will you pick them up off the ground?
or will you leave them there to fade away?
