Roses And Daggers Poem by Ashley burnam

Roses And Daggers

Rating: 1.5

Birds twittered happily everywhere
Unknowing the child of prophecy was born.
Hair the color of crow feathers
And skin as white a snow
She would fight for the kingdom,
Sword and shield rightfully won.

Her mother dead and her father gone to war,
No one stopped her.
She cropped her hair short and bound her chest tight,
Ready to fight for her king.
She left that night.

For three years she trained,
Across the barren lands of Shunai,
And in dark streets of Totami
She learned and grew to be Queen of rouges.

Day and night she fought,
Her Father never knew.

One night she moved across enemy territory,
Walking like a ghost, leaving no footprints behind.
A hand shot out and pulled her close,
Breath tickled her ear as she heard sweet nothings.

Fighting, she pulled away,
Seeing a man with white hair and tan skin.
He smiled at her kindly and slipped a rose in her fair hair.

Raising her dagger to him she gave him her gray stare.
“What do you want of me? ” She asked, her voice soft yet hard.

“Only you, lovely. The one meant for me.”
She raised a delicate eyebrow and stared at him.

“I can’t love you, you’re the enemy! ” She declared. He reached out and pulled her close, pressing his satin lips to hers.
For the next couple of months he followed her,
Courting her constantly.
Finally one day she accepted him and they where soon wed.

Their honeymoon was cut short,
She left him a note.
Promising to return once her final job was done.

She never returned that night,
And one day she was carried in on the back of a horse,
Pipers played the song of her march.

They set her on a bed of roses
As blue as the night sky
Placing a dagger in her hands
So she may fight in the after life.
