Route 66 Diner Poem by Marilyn Lott

Route 66 Diner

Sometimes it’s a lot of fun
To turn back the pages of time
Go back fifty years or more
Stop everything to look behind

And I’ll tell you about a place
That allows you to do just that
It’s called the Route 66 Diner
Where so many people have sat

Jukebox on the counter
Oh how I remember those days
Just slip in a quarter or was it a dime?
To hear your favorite song play

Grab yourself a shake or malt
Sip it slowly with your honey
Oh what fun that always was
And you didn’t need a lot of money

Souvenirs from the past are there
Displayed on the walls and such
You’ll feel just like it’s yesterday
A place with that 50s touch

So take the time some day
To travel on Route 66
Yes, just like the song says
You will definitely get your kicks!
