What do you say
we run away
and start all over
you and me
and throw our sadness away

Yes I guess some will stay
and it's true some may
but with you to hold onto
I won't go astray
or let sadness get the best of me
and erode my heart away

I wish I could take that chance
to believe in love forever growing
with friendship as the root
of romance
I wish we could take that chance
and overcome our resistance

what if we had nothing
but each other
just like best friends
and lovers
it seems things might be
twice as good
and half as bad
and I think we'd be happy
and hardly ever sad

And the sweetest words
I'll ever hear
are that you love me
and need me always near
and my dear
you needn't worry
because you will be the happiest ending
to my life's story

I'm about ready to dream again
I just need someone to dream with
a friend, a lover
someone to hold my heart
wiith love and care
without fear
without end
