Running Home Poem by Diya Bhudia

Running Home

Tears I held for ages
stream down my eyes.
Heavy heart, I held,
freed up as I move ahead.

Emotions fly like a bird,
an eagle kept captive set free.
A phoenix rebirth.

My legs have the energy to run,
run like a cheetah after its prey.

My lips shape to a grin,
Happier than a child in a swing.
A mother and its offspring.

I stand on the cliff's edge,
I see the dirty green forest,
I see the mighty waterfall,
I see freedom and my home.
