Sacrifice Poem by Alexander Thomas

Sacrifice

Love's great burden carries so much pain,
One can only be free once the beast is slain!
Do you have the courage to break the chain?
For beauty, truth and justice to reign?

Sacrifice, sacrifice rues a heavy price,
Sacrifice making men of mice,
Sacrifice, sacrifice a worthy price,
Sacrifice made for frayed threads to splice,
It is the only way to paradise!

In emboldened haste to raging seas set sail,
And in your devout mission do not fail!
To the glory of the hallowed word hail!
With faith we can muster the strength to prevail!

Sacrifice, sacrifice to what end this device?
Sacrifice would you think twice?
Sacrifice, sacrifice all things that are nice,
Sacrifice for life's full vigour and spice!
It maybe folly but is virtue not vice!

On this treacherous road do not get lost,
Do not falter at the morn's biting frost,
And do not shudder at the Earthly cost,
You have to believe we are star-crossed!

Sacrifice, sacrifice thine heart can I entice?
Sacrifice made against better advice!
Sacrifice, Sacrifice will thaw this lingering ice!
Sacrifice for which nothing else will suffice!
For no fortune can be found without rolling the dice!
