Saddest Faction Poem by Joe Fraccalvieri

Saddest Faction

We live forever……. until we die
We fly, as though we had wings…
We ply and embrace every noble endeavor
And the mountains listen
as the river sings

We run and we laugh… We fall and we cry
We reach as far as we see
Yet, no matter how much we are willing to give…
nothing we take is for free

There are those whose sole purpose, it seems, is to lie…
Like clouds blocking light from the sun in the sky

And as I look toward the heavens, I can't help but sigh…

If I only knew then, the things I know now…
If I'd only ask why, instead of wondering how…
If only there were time… Time enough to last
I wouldn't have worried so much
about time that had passed

Someday soon……. maybe tomorrow
I'll forget about today, and all of its sorrow

But I didn't know then, those things I know now
And I didn't ask why, though I still wonder how

There's never enough time,
yet so quickly life passes, while time ambles by
When our concerns tear us down,
our hopes remain high

We are born to this world…
you and I
And all too soon,
forever……. we die
