Safety Poem by Aimee Nell

Safety

Rating: 4.0

Once falling.
Falling into fear.
Now flying.
Flying through flames.
Searing this frozen heart.
Longing to sink into safety.
Safety in your arms.
-
They say
They would walk through hell
To be with the one
They love.
But I do,
Every time I look into your eyes.
That frigid layer of ice.
The cold I've always known.
The burning fire that lies underneath.
Charring my bare skin.
Running through the flames
To find the place where
It can be alright again.
