Sailing The Seven Seas Poem by Deanna Samuels

Sailing The Seven Seas

My son would like to sail the seven seas
explore the secrets of the shores
wind slowly round the five world continents
tie up amongst the countless jeweled studded isles

Of course, this is a far-off dream
a future dream yet to come,
now he sails amongst The Thousand Islands
a captain, giving guidance to eager newbie sailors

His expertise to those he gladly imparts
enjoying the camaraderie of such enthused learners.
Interestingly too, each day a different menu appears
as every crew member takes charge of tiny galley

For now, his pleasure is amongst those many islands
all embedded within the great St Lawrence River
flowing beyond and into the grandeur of Lake Ontario -
One day - you never know - his dream will come true

Written at Richmond Hill, Ontario - 3rd July 2024.
A tribute to my son.
