Salt And Pepper Poem by Kelvin Rush

Salt And Pepper

Salt and Pepper the two Siamese cats
Can't wait for the clock to strike three
They're licking their lips thrilled to bits
With Granny Bean who's preparing their tea

Two minutes to go the excitement grows
Both tails are pointing to the sky
Salt turns to Pepper with a curious look
Will it be chicken or fish pie

I hope it's fish pie Pepper replies
That's my favourite tea
I quite like chicken it's tasty and paw-lickin
But fish pie is the one for me

Salt nods his head I like fish pie too
But that's not my favourite tea
My favourite is beef with lots of gravy
That will do nicely for me

The clock strikes three it's time for tea
Granny Bean puts the bowls on the floor
They're full to the brim the cats get stuck in
A minute later they're both wanting more
