Salt-Water Veins Poem by Navillus Tam

Salt-Water Veins

Freedom is the ocean
That brings serenity
She'll tease you with her potion
Then she'll blow you out to sea

She woos you with her whisper
And wallows while you grow
She begs for you to kiss her
And then she won't let you go

The sea, she has a story
A story that she will tell
Of men that sailed for glory
But were lost within her spell

Of voyages that started
Of expeditions failed
From port they all departed
Under the freedom of the sail

We gather on the surface
And stare into her eyes
She tells us of our purpose
But the truth she can disguise

Deep within her body
Deep within her soul
The spirit she embodies
Rests in secret down below

I look to her for answers
I ask her what to do
She tells me what she can
Then says, 'The rest is up to you'

I've fallen in a trance now
Don't wake me from my sleep
I've found my one true romance
'Neath the cradle of the sea
