Sands Of Time Poem by Jodie Hardy

Sands Of Time

Seconds fall like the sands of time through an hourglass.
In a blink your babes in arms are having their own babies
Bonds forged in childhood are galvanised in adulthood by siblings holding hands
By parents holding hearts.

Hours build one by one into days, weeks, months and years
Decades disappear leaving nothing but a muddle of memories in its wake,
Years fall like bricks through space landing heavily in a pile of broken months.
From babes in arms to the best of friends… all it takes is time.

Time moving us all forwards, some more gently than others clearly favouring the young.

Time gives so much, even when we don't appreciate it, sometimes, even when we don't want it.

It goes on.
It keeps giving
It keeps taking

The sands of time are always falling through the cracks in the moments between words said and meaning understood.
The moment a smile spreads from one person to another and another.
From the moment you send a message waiting with uncertainty for a reply
Time waits for no man, woman or child,
It's moving forwards constantly, consistently.

If you can count on one thing in this world it's that time goes on.
