Sanity's Dream Poem by David Nielsen

Sanity's Dream

Tired and wasted thoughts passed away in my mind.
They drifted away one by one till there was nothing to find.
Fantasy soon turns to truth as my body feels light.
Tranquil your soul kissed my eyes and my spirit takes flight.

Why does reality have to bite so hard it hurts?
It's a pain so deep description defies any words.
So I hide in my fantasy life sometimes to extreme.
Because my delusions are better off hidden behind sanity's dream.

Silently watching an angel sleeps just out of reach.
Revealing a smile on her face and dried tear on her cheek.
Passion flows through my heart while love fills my veins.
As I imagine her opening eyes would dissolve all my pain.

Why does reality have to bite so hard it hurts?
It's a pain so deep description defies any words.
So I hide in my fantasy life sometimes to extreme.
Because my delusions are better off hidden behind sanity's dream.

Awakened I reach out to all that was thought to be sane.
Justice carries no reason for what's left of my brain.
My own social apathy somehow defines what is real.
Reluctant my body shuts down because it's too numb to feel.

Why does reality have to bite so hard it hurts?
It's a pain so deep description defies any words.
So I hide in my fantasy life sometimes to extreme.
Because my delusions are better off hidden behind sanity's dream
