Saturated Fat Poem by Dave Tendell

Saturated Fat

Similar to a lonesome marshmallow,
I consist of a puffed up body of pure saturated fat.
Leaving not a single morsel
for my starving puny cat.
As a consuming twister,
I eat most everything within sight.
Way up and about
into the moon luminosity
of the motionless night.

Confess, I will;
I breathe to offhandedly eat.
I am a twinkling star at any eating contest:
A hot dog tough to beat.
As a rule, I forever obtain
a second mounded food crammed plate.
Sandwiched between meals;
snacking while I wait.

Like a famished lion,
I devour everything I eat;
All consisting of tastes
salty, sour, bitter or sweet
From steaming pasta
stringing with excessive cheese,
garlic bread
and a luscious
mouth watering fat enriched T-bone steak
To a double order of hot chili fries
and an extra wide slice
of delectable hot-fudge chocolate cake.

I am unusually chubby
that’s how it goes.
My excessive fat jiggles and wiggles
under my expanded tight-fitting clothes.
Like a congested airplane,

I must consider losing some weight.

Could it be
I am already a hundred pounds too late?

I haven’t seen my plump toes
in quite awhile;
declaring with an unnatural phony smile.
As my center grows
my belly button tunnels deeper
While capturing the attention
of the notorious dark grim reaper.

Like a lying thief,
I have not one casual friend.
If I don’t refrain from eating,
soon I will be reaching life’s abrupt end.
From this moment onward,
the binge eating must stop.
I am terrified one day
like a pricked balloon,
I will suddenly pop.
