Save Mother Earth Poem by SHIV WADETTIWAR

Save Mother Earth

I walk down the road with friends
heading to home, and we throw all the rubbish,
Not in bin, but in the road. I couldn’t careless.
Why not, and why I shouldn’t?
Look. Look and look.
Everyone seems to be relentless too.
Rubbish are everywhere. Empty batteries are there.
Cans are here. Have you seen the broken glass there?
I’m at home now, and watching television.
God, the flood’s wiping their houses in Samar.
There’s landslide too. And the drains are blocked
by the garbage.
Horrible. Petrified. Depressed. Pestered
and I’m obsessed. Because many of them are dead.
I realised, I have to reduce, to re-use, and to recycle
the things I have. Like them, I’m terrified of death.
I want to save life, and to save my mother earth.
