Saviour Poem by Mainak Chatterjee

Saviour

Rating: 5.0

When dusky evening unfolds
sitting on wheel chair the old man watches with heavy heart
lonely sun fading out slowly
lonely bird returning to its nest

He knows he is a problem for others
unavoidable burden on others
but still he has to live
has no other choice
Sometimes his paralytic body and mind revolts
against sympathetic look of outsiders
careless and indifferent look of near ones
cries quite often like a child for some attention

One night his mother came into his dream
hiding his face in her bosoms he cried inconsolably
she caressed his pale cheeks, kissed his forehead
holding her hand he disappeared into the darkness of night….......
