Say Hi Poem by Edwin Hopper

Say Hi

I was not a party guy.
I thought I'd shyly say goodbye.

Until across the room I spy...
God you're easy on the eye.
Blow anybody's heart awry.
Enough to make a bishop sigh,
kick a hole in a window high
and let him think an angel's nigh.

Though... I would only get tongue tie.
You're too good for blokes like I.
To risk a slap, or loud decry.
But... Life is short. Were bound to fly.
it is no reason not to try,
to look each other in the eye.

Oh wow. Did you look in reply?
Oh God yes, your smile shines by.
So I wonder, what or why,
your brief glancing, may imply?
Yes there again, you can't deny.

Well. Here we go. Fates defy.
I'm walking over, then close bye
Cool, and casual. I'll say "Hi."

And, if together, we're not shy,
and you flirtatiously reply,
if we believe each others lie,
and wonder, if trust might imply,
we have a life, before we die.

If we kiss, under starry sky.
If our cars, are parked nearby.
If on a back seat, in the dry,
I kiss your shoulder, kiss you thigh.
Soaring both our spirits high.

But, if, this is a chance miss try,
our brief romance goes quite awry,
Well, no ones hurt, we say goodbye,
without a tear, without a cry.

Here goes... Love must be worth a try.
I am now going to say "Hi".
