Says I Poem by Barry Van Allen

Says I

Use your time wisely, says I,
pocket your money,
and when days are sunny,
all your temptations defy.

Reach for your brother, says I,
carry his load down the long rocky road,
and give him a piece of your pie.

Think well of your burden, says I,
be happy to have it,
'cause you're nothing without it,
but, don't let that weight make you cry.

Live your life freely, says I,
help them remember in that early November,
when all of the flowers had died ;
... remind them that spring,
is a wonderful thing,
... it will give them the strength to survive.

Very few will deliver the things they imply,
and too many will cheat you and leave you to die,
with no more than this,
and a wet sloppy kiss,
we reach for the meaning of life,
... says I!
