Scars Poem by Chai McLain

Scars

I am a perfect picture of scars that tell of my adventures
my legs a patchwork of
adventures mapped
creeks and fallen trees
my face an art show
of failed crafts please
don't ask
my hands show
cooking and planting
in hot days asking for a
breeze
my left arm tells
of sorrows and woes
and times I was alone
There are days where I
wish to forget how I got
them Days I wish they
would Disappear the
stories would fade away
from my mind
But people love broken things cracked cups turned over plants and tiny plants and
I
wish
to
be
loved
