Scatter Startled Seagulls Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

Scatter Startled Seagulls

Rating: 5.0

Run along the shore
Scatter startled sea gulls as you clear the dunes
Leave prints that dance and leap
Long strides to chase away the gloom

This world burns and shakes
Bad news crowds each minute of the living day
New stories fall like anvils in the rain
Don't waste time wondering how it got this way

A world of clocks tick away
Old man universe you go on and on and on
While our mortal fuse hisses
We ask the mirror where the time has gone

Sooooooooooooooooooooooo.......

Leap high while you still can
Shed that snake skin of old predictable you
Friends drown your common selves
Scatter startled seagulls in everything you do

Lovely sentiment Edmund. I love the line, A world of clocks tick away... that is so true. Sage advice...and to do this all on the beach...even better.

The idea of startling the sea gulls is a metaphor for approaching life in a different way. Instead of the common path we come over the dune unexpectedly and the footprints that we leave along the shore will tell their tale. Will they be ruts or playful curious impressions.
