School Is Out

Religious study’s taught no more
It’s widely now the rule
But God lay wide another door
When His was closed at school

Within Christ’s hand we’re all a tool
That God the world can reach
Although we’re not allowed at school
At home we still may teach

Though Principle, at school the head!
My hands are tied I fear
Yet in the Lord my heart’s not dead
My pupils now come here

I serve as those before have done
Since Christians were pursued
They taught of Christ God’s living Son
When truth was first endued

With parents first I chose to speak
Through Christ they saw so clear
Better their children learn each week
Than walk the streets in fear

Many at first were full of doubt
But God had all in view
He knew when things had all work out
I’d teach the parents too

I know that good can come from bad
Whatever’s done in school
In Christ we’ll make the devil mad
If we don’t play the fool

Others have heard about this scheme
And now throughout the land
We know it’s more than just a dream
God must have had it planned.
