School Of Knocks Poem by Bryan Taplits

School Of Knocks

The heart can imprison one too
And your penance? Your new point of view
Where the lone inmate in prison is not her-but is'his'n
And the prisoner-you discover- is you.
To you she would close her eyes-
And to her you never opened yours
Recall, she once portentously opined-'Why you, you're out of your mind'! !
And that was when all of your dreams turned into blurs.
Remember, though, the times it all was so sweet-
The times where you thought it was going blissfully well
She fell supine at your feet-and gasped at all your feats-
Then she met you and- it all went to hell.
A lesson was learned that torn day
Whatever you do: 'Keep Away'!
The teaching was painful-though the teacher an angel
-Too bad the 'angel' was teaching that day!
