Screaming Silence Poem by Randi Reid

Screaming Silence

As I lie here in darkness, the silence that surrounds me has the sound of a thousand screaming voices, each one inseparable from the rest, all saying nothing at all, refusing to cease. The sounds of the day have retreated and I am left with only the maddening noise of this quietude. Where is the music, where are my thoughts to rescue me. As I close my eyes and yearn for sleep to carry me away to dreams full of laughter and joy, I am left only with the stillness.
