Searching At A Dating Site Poem by Randy McClave

Searching At A Dating Site

I filled out a dating questionnaire
And then I said a quick prayer,
While I was browsing the local dating site
I was trying to find a partner with all my might.
I haven't been able to find me a sweetheart
Seemingly Cupid never shot me or my destiny with his dart,
So, I was going to give myself another chance
Alone forever I didn't want to dance.
I remember the questions that I had read
And I answered them all without worries or dread,
I wanted to finally find me a true girlfriend
So, I then answered the questions and then I hit the green button, SEND.
Do I drink or smoke I answered, "No, Never! "
Do I chew tobacco or take drugs, "No, I'm too clever! ",
Then I was asked if I swore or ever did curse
No, and I do not ever bully or coerce.
Then I was asked if I swear or lie or cheat
I answered, "Never", I say no matter the desire or the heat,
I texted that I also do not abuse or intimidate
To be kind, caring and helpful I will always initiate.
Do I lie or break promises or do I steal
Never ever that would stand against my very will,
I was then asked if I was loyal and devout
I said without hesitation, I am without the shadow of a doubt.
Then I was asked if there was anything or anyone I'm ashamed of
I answered only those who misuse love,
Then I was asked what is truly sad and pitiful to me
Then I said people who always hastily agree.
The last question that I was asked
To it I said no I wear no fake facade or a hidden mask,
Then after a few moments the site showed me an answer
Who was going to be my final partner, my dancer.
Soon I'd find a woman whose beliefs and mine were the same
With the same interests and never playing any emotional game,
Whose thoughts and actions were the same as mine
Who has no red flags or a broken or out for repair sign.
I there stood with an excited smile on my face
I then clasped my hands together and gave a quick thankful grace,
Then a name upon my computer quickly hatches
But, sadly the computer showed, "No Matches"
