Searching For Christ Poem by Gregorio de Matos Guerra

Searching For Christ

To you, running I go, sacred arms,
Bare on this sacrosanct cross,
That, to welcome me are open,
And, to not punish me, are nailed.

To you, divine eyes, eclipsed
from so much blood and tears, open,
To forgive me, are awakened
and to not condemn me, are closed.

To you, nailed feet, for not leaving me,
To you, shed blood, to anoint me
To you, bowed head, to call me.

To you, true side, I want to belong
To you, precious nails, I want to be attached
To stay united, held and firm.
