Second Chance Poem by Marlene Rashidi

Second Chance

Rating: 4.0

Doubtless, I was when I believed in me,
Your fear and disappointment, I see
Regrets and sores always brought me back home,
Mama's comforts made me calm,
But daddy's anger chases me away,
This world is big, How can I find my way,
I walk with the heaviness of shame on my face,
My bitter past, still I embrace,
Dreams of change, I erase,
Daddy's harsh words were like fire,
I felt like, I'm being hanged on a wire,
Mama's understandings were to much,
My nights were all spent at the church,
If only my prayers could be heard,
As if God could answer a harlot's prayers!
All I'm asking for is a second chance,
My dirty life, I'll try to enhance,
Forgiveness, will I receive,
And my pain will be relieved.
