Self Destruction Poem by Alejel Draene

Self Destruction

Rooted in the earth, with leaves and many branches. It's home to many and it's where I'd like to lay my head, until my feet cannot touch the ground. Dancing in the wind like chimes, as the whisper of breath leaves my body, what a sight to see. I'm on top of the world, enjoying the view. Smile from ear to ear I show no fear, just one step forward and my world come crashing down. There's no joy, there's no hope of another day. Cup overflowing on the nightstand, medications in my right hand. It's hard, but these pills can defeat the hollow. Say goodnight, it's a rest I'll not wake from.
