Self Diagnosed Poem by manisha singh

Self Diagnosed

Though I
Feel
I haven’t committed
A crime
I live in a world
Where you serve
Despite
Good intentions
You realize
Life
Takes you
On an internal ride
It’s on you to decide
To drown
Or rise

When we
Believe
In the wrong
We freeze
Remaining
Stagnant
Unable to fix

We rock
In an isolated space
Too brainwashed
To believe
In the real things

Taken resident behind
These electric
Mannerisms solidify
A theatric
I: pirate in disguise
Magician of illusions
And master of surprise

Illusionary hands
Are not
Quicker than
The human eye
It depends where
Your focus lies
A feat of illusion
Is only real
From a naïve eye

The truth
Shuffled in
With lies
Memories, erode like
Colors corrupted
By apartheid
You and I
Fight
For lost treasures
On the outside

I attempt
To breathe
To stay alive
A new ship
Climbs
To the surface
I dive

Hidden treasures
Ancient skeletons
Buried inside
When emotions
Arise
That we can’t define
They’re less sympathized

Our brain is where
Knowledge resides
Our mind perceives
Good and bad signs

It will take you
In the night
Places you never wish
To hide
Then sing a lullaby
Down to paradise

In the real world
The ocean sets outs
It’s tides
The sand is left
With beautiful shells
To find

On the flip side
There is conceived
A white pearl
Inside

Two timelines
Are revealed by
Our eyes
Manipulative
To their pride
Unparallel lines
Destined to meet
In this heart
Of mine
