Self Harming Poem by Amani AlSaddiq

Self Harming

Here is a confession,
Of something I have done,
Although it was a while ago,
The scars have still not gone,

My life just got too painful,
And my hope was wearing thin,
So I sat alone with a razor blade,
And carved lines into my skin.

The razor I could hardly feel it,
Yet it eased the pain in my heart,
A pain that was created by problems,
And was now tearing my soul apart.

The scar still remains,
No where for them to hide,
My parents ask me whats the mark,
The truth I cannot reply.

And now I regret my actions,
I should have thought twice,
But too late, the damage has been done,
I must now pay the price.

Oh Allah forgive me,
For it was not my intention,
Just help me to stay strong,
And change my idiotic reactions.
