Sent From God Was Gabriel Poem by Mohammad Younus

Sent from God was Gabriel,
The Archangel, with message to tell,
To Muhammad in the cave Hira,
On the Mountain-of-Light.

Hail, you highly favoured be!
The Lord is pleased with you!
To choose you as His messenger!
Among nations you are blessed!
The Final Message now to be!

Muhammad stands gazing at him,
Moving neither forward nor backward;
Then, he begins to turn his face away,
But towards whatever region of the sky,
He looks, he sees the angel as before;
He hears as before the ringing of the bell,
Followed by the first verses of the book,
For guidance of the Mutaqeen revealed to be:

'READ in the name of thy Sustainer,
Who has created;
Created man out of a germ-cell!
Read!
For thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One,
Who has taught [man] the use of the pen,
Taught man what he did not know! '

He goes to his wife, Khadijah, and says:
Zamilooni, Dathirooni, Dathirooni,
(Envelop me! Embrace me! Embrace me)
A mighty task has come before me!
I need you here with me!
By my side be! By my side be! By my side be!

When she saw him, awed and troubled,
She tells him: Fear not!
With Allah you have found favour!
And shall bear the message for sure!

She takes him to her noble cousin, Warqa;
He tells him:
In the chain of prophets, the last link,
You have been graced to be¡
Congrats! Congrats! Congrats!
The mercy for all the nations to be!

If I live, I'll see in it my honour to be your Ummati;
And you shall o'er the kingdom of Allah reign;
O Muhammad, God shall ordain Reign Of mercy,
Through you, you're chosen for ever to rule,
Your rule over God's kingdom has no end!
For ever it will be! You'll but face opposition!

No Mehdi or Christ shall follow Mustafa,
This is my conviction;
The dead will be raised to life, yes,
But only on the Day of Resurrection!
True it is! The Truth speaks!
