September Rain (A Song) Poem by Jade Leven

September Rain (A Song)

Rating: 5.0

your tears came pouring down like a river
and your heart was tired, so it was beating apathetically
you lay there quiet as the pain came rushing back
and we both knew then how scary love can be

your eyes were as empty as your soul now
your laugh was a distant memory so lost
your patience was running out so quickly
your smile was an unfriendly reminder of the lines that he had crossed

you're like the September rain
a piece of everyone's fragile past
and you're sweet, but you're cold now
you don't know how much longer you can last
like this, like this

there is a window that always separates you
from the world you have previously known
but instead of crying because you're outside looking in
remember that you don't need him, you're stronger on your own

you're like the September rain
a piece of everyone's fragile past
and you're sweet, but you're cold now
you don't know how much longer you can last
like this, like this

let the sky open up
and let the rain come pouring down
never be afraid
of turning around
just face what's ahead of you
and let go of what's behind you
but where's the best place to start?
just look at the courage in your heart

you're like the September rain
a piece of everyone's fragile past
and you're sweet, but you're cold now
you don't know how much longer you can last
like this, like this
