Serenity Poem by Karen Wood

Serenity

There is a place inside my mind
I call Serenity.
There the stresses of the outside world
Cannot get to me.
Within a blink of my mind’s eye
Night there, turns to day.
I blink, and it turns back again,
To wash my cares away.

The journey is so easy,
It takes no time at all,
I close my eyes, and give a sigh
Then I begin to fall.
Into the land of slumber,
The place where dreams are real,
Serenity waits with open arms
To help my spirit heal.

The venue’s always changing,
That’s how it’s meant to be,
One time a peaceful forest walk
Then a clifftop by the sea.
Perhaps a chair by dancing flame,
A book by candlelight,
Serenity waits in all these things
At all times day or night.
