For me, no devotion exists save servitude to the Truth,
In my heart, no absolute longing save for the Truth.
Neither scholar nor spiritual guide, neither sheikh nor dervish—
None shares the throne in the station of the Truth.
The Messenger of God is a beacon for humanity,
Yet he does not possess the station of the Divine Essence.
To the Prophet belong reverent honor and the devotion of life,
Yet none can be the Truth except the Truth Itself.
Obey, if the command arises from the Truth,
For the scale of reality seeks only the Light of the Truth.
Obedience to those in authority is welcomed with open eyes,
Provided their command walks hand in hand with justice.
But should a decree stray far from the Truth,
No value or essence remains in obeying it.
Not every command marks the path of Truth,
Nor is every claim proof of entry to the Divine Court.
My surrender must be to the Truth, not to personalities, living or dead,
For the Truth illuminates the path from its own chosen way.
Neither do I seek dissolution in a sheikh, through the visualization of the sheikh,
Nor do I take the path of servitude from any mortal's name.
My true aim is that Renowned One beyond all names,
By whose light every name endures.
Servitude belongs to the Truth; command belongs to the Truth;
Whatever the Truth wills, that alone is truth.
O MyKoul, turn away from servitude to creation;
By the scale of reality, look only to the path of the Truth.
For honoring mortal beings has its rightful place,
Only as long as they are living, not when they are dust in dust,
Yet the Truth has no equal or peer.
