Settling Down Poem by Stephanie West

Settling Down

What happens if I decide to settle?
I'll make the dinner, you put on the kettle
Doing our own thing all day, never really speaking
Ou are content but inside, I'm freaking
Stupid arguments about god-knows-what
Complaining about the rug I just bought
Talking about decor and things to eat for tea
Shouting at each other when one of us loses the key
You complain that we're not married but I just sigh
I don't want to be legall bonded to this until I die
Love is not enough, there is no such thing as forever
You keep on pushing but I'll always say never
It's not the life I wan so I'll see you later
In the beyond, reunited by a force much greater
You'll look at me alone and you'll have someone pretty and lean
But we'll always wonder about what could have been
