Seventh Son Poem by Sheri Green

Seventh Son

Can she not see what lies behind my eyes
As she gazes into the depths of my soul
Can she not see the man within this guise
Or has my loss of humanity taken its toll

I wear a curse of a fated birth
Seventh son of a seventh son
Forever doomed to walk this earth
Till my true name be uttered by one

I thought I would never see her again
Since that damned and accursed day
The fates cursed me with this cur's skin
Leaving me to find my own way

She must wonder where I have gone
But never has she muttered a word
Maybe she deems me lost and forgone
Leaving her heart torn and spurned

I follow her shadow with a pleading heart
Praying that one day she will see
That this wolf that never dare parts
Is in truth a man that begs to be free

The crescent moon has worn so thin
In its endless trek across the sky
A reflection of my hopes own twin
That so slowly wither and die

And so I cry a haunting serenade
That echoes across the moonlit plain
For by her side I shall ever stay
As my love continues to linger and remain
