Sex Without Luggage Poem by Percy Dovetonsils

Sex Without Luggage

Sex was a country
I visited often,
but now
not often
enough.

Since 9/11
it's been tough
to get to
-there's the passport
to renew
and in terminals
I must strip myself
shoe by shoe.

Some say it's better
to bring your sex,
a mistress or a wife,
with you
when you fly
but I prefer

to travel light
to stow my carry on
in the compartment
directly above my seat
and not have to retrieve
a mistress or a wife
from the carousel
at the end
of a flight.

I‘m an optimist.
I expect
the country I'm headed for
-Cuba, or Sweden,
or France, or Ecuador,
to be sexy enough.
Finding sex
when I get there
can't be all
that rough.
