Shades And Shadows Of Words - Poem by Virginia Drungil

suddenly sound of words awaken us
from self-induced existential coma
back into the mean streets of the Universe
back into madness that is being alive
what unexpected words
could bring us closer together
would fill the void within us
and thaw our hearts out of
the permanent landscape of winter
take self imposed exile
from the meaningless words
extinguished in our hearts to never
be used as a weapon, as an arrow of
tenderness that wounds ever so softly
what power words have over me
words irresistible, persistent, believable
their spell is so intoxicating
I am loosing my sanity and falling
into the abyss of the silence
into emptiness that leaves
no trace of who I was before
words define me, betray me
and leave me at the crossroads
between silence and sound
between now and forever tomorrow
waiting in the shadows
of words
