Roots Of Trees Poem by Virginia Drungil

Roots Of Trees

Rating: 3.0

Doomed as we are to reap rewards or punishments
retreat, repeat the destiny, or even try rewrite it
on an empty page
what's made and set in stone or rigid mind
can't be unmade or changed
can't live or love or grow or come alive

Instead, one can choose creation
the myth, reality, or primal elements of both
incorporated, intertwined like roots of trees
they guard the secrets of the agony, of growth
and pain or joy of subtle changes
looming inevitably upon us

Night comes like sister of the mercy, or the guard
like trusted treasurer to accept the day's defeats
and feats, the flights of fancy
and the moment's fate
to find us intertwined like roots of trees
strong, powerful and silent
