Shadow Of Death Poem by Keith Lankford

Shadow Of Death

I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I hear what their saying I ain't learned nothing yet
Yet when their speaking under their breath
I listen closely no longer deaf

I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I hear what their saying ain't learned nothing yet
One step backwards forward two steps
Still ahead of you in the game that I left

That I left

Everyone's marching to a different beat
I don't want to know the ones you want to meet
The words that you hear are the words that they speak
They seem real strong they are eternally weak
Hide behind a mask in a house made of glass
I'm throwing out words not spoke behind their back
When they look for me they don't know where I'm at
Pea sized brains covered in big top hats
Here they come again on the evening news
A better life we want it's abortion they choose
Stylish their not for them I got a clue
That top hat might be suffocating you
A Kennedy cap is the one for you we'd choose
Don't look back though you have not much to lose
Yes magic bullets come in red white and blue
Backed by the flag you chose to abuse
They are lying on the news
They are lying every week
Manufactured blues will see them lying in under sheets
Glass houses shattered as the stones are in the streets
Sympathy for them they will not get from me
I'd tell them a secret while their down on their knees
Open up your eyes look into the ones you please
Blinded they are only darkness they see
Just trying to help out but coincidentally

I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I hear what their saying ain't learned nothing yet
Yet when their speaking under their breath
I listen closely no longer deaf

I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I hear what their saying I ain't learned nothing yet
The words that they speak are the words they once said
Buried indeed along with the message they once spread
