Shadow Of The Cross Poem by Don Gaudreau

Shadow Of The Cross

Rating: 5.0

You say take up my cross and follow me
But sometimes I can't take a single step before I fall
The world is pressing in on me and I feel so abandoned
But somehow through the rain and thunderin I still hear Your call

That's when I know that even though my circumstance is poor
and all around me all I see is  pain and sorrow
I will fall on down on my knees and sing Your praises even more
Alleluiah alleluiah, Your love has ransomed for me a new tomorrow

No storm will wash away my faith
For I am resting in Your love
And there I will stay, and I will have no fear
Jesus You alone are more than enough

Now I'm free from the darkness the anger, the hate,
With Jesus by my side I can count all else as loss
The shackles have been loosed and the anchor's got no weight
I have been cleansed by His love in the shadow of the cross

Take my will I've surrendered all my worldly ways to you
I want to build Your kingdom here on earth
Take my heart you have softened it so I can love anew
You have given back my dignity and worth
