Shame Poem by Timothy McPoetry

Shame

Rating: 5.0

You mock and deride me
Showing my ineptitude to all the world
Having no regard for my emotional well being
Laughing at my insecurity

You shout to the masses
SLOB
IGNORAMUS
HEATHEN

You make me seem like an undomesticated beast
Unfit for the world of men
Doomed to lurk in the shadows
Alone forever

It's high time I shout back
The tide will turn
I will wash myself of your mockery
And be clean once more

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Yesterday at work, I was eating a hotdog. I got a mustard stain on my shirt and nobody told me. I later went to a meeting and my supervisors noticed it. I felt like a fool. I wished that someone had told me earlier. I always carry a stain removing pen with me - I could have fixed the problem and avoided embarrassment.

God Bless America.
