Shattered Dreams Poem by Sureshni Jayawardana

Shattered Dreams

I gaze at the moon
Feeling lonely and down
Wishing you were here with me
In my little bedroom.

Shattered dreams
Thoughtless words
Are all that is left
Of a past long gone.

I spend my days
Trying to erase what’s lost
Little did we know
What the future would hold.

Late at night
Silence creeps in slowly
Without knocking
Through the back door.

The wind blows
The leaves scatter…I wonder,
Are these the signs
Of a Lover’s failure?
