Shattering Sky Poem by Sven Rhoads

Shattering Sky

While the rain bathes the earth
And the stars fall from the sky
I continue to see my worth
Like a rose, wither and die
All these efforts gone in vain
When I made my solemn pledge
I cannot stop the pain
Bleeding from the razors edge

Now those wings are burned
All comes crashing down

Your love left me like an open grave
Only my shadow has been left to save
No longer do I feel the beat in my chest
Your eyes just poured down the rain
Cant cleanse my soul of the stain
Its time to lay this all to rest
Under a shattering sky

Now that only the wind speaks to me
As those leaves begin to fall
There is no future for me to see
For the abyss has become my all
Your tears smothered my flame
And paradise was all pretend
As the nothing now wears my name
There's only time that I can spend

Watching the last leaf fall
Like the hourglass sand

It was all for nothing as I stand by the grave
The pseudo love we miserably shared
As we throw our departing withered rose
And watch love's gate rust and close
