She Cries Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

She Cries

She will say:
Reclaim your name
Don't bring upon the land the shame
Unlearn what was taught in your home
Overtaken by Rome

She will say:
Reclaim your rights
Or fall under the thrall of night
Or dance to the rhythm of the beat
Rome has your feet
To perform to

Tells the lady no life survived
A land so rich use to thrive
She's worked up at the thought
Until she release the pain
She rained like the storm
She stormed like the rain

And she cries, she cries
Watching over her babies
When she hears, she hears
No safety
‘Cause she's as radiant
as the sun at full energy
But come her children history
She cries, She cries.

You think cause of her strength
She would appear to be fine
she don't show vulnerabilities
That's been on her mind

She will say:
Reclaim your name
She's the key to unlock your chains
Your heart is of the richest of earth
Let this remind you, what you are worth

She will say:
Be one who is weary
of laws that were developed
Be one who is leary
When it comes to your place
In this world
Stop chasing ideals
Where you don't belong

Well the lady saw the crimes
Which has blurred the lines
They hold you in a state of arrest
Unlike time you won't progress

And she cries, she cries
Watching over her babies
When she hears, she hears
No safety
‘Cause she's as radiant
as the sun at full energy
But come her children history
She cries, She cries.
