She Innocence Poem by Sentamu Aziz

She Innocence

Into the world she was
Like a puppy at crossroads
None she knew, little she owned
Life and the rags
Shielded her privacy
Left and right, forward and back
Seemed only the world
Of no single answer
To any thought of question

Toothless he smiled
An answer he seemed
To the lonely prayer
He answered all cries
For there after
One could dream
As it rained

Dark came the nights
Of the toothless ogre
That once smiled like a baby
It struck so sharp
That lightening is blunt
To the loss of innocence
In the night of terror
All drained out
She cried dry
Cursing the gift of life

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Many children are left all alone to face the world by; death of parents; running away fro torture at home etc... Most vulnerable among these children is the girl child. With a delicate life the girl child is left to survive more on luck and mercy of the world. However, many fall prey to traps of rape, defilement etc thinking they are a meeting a life saver to take over the parent role in their lives. This is so prevalent in my homeland Africa.I wrote ''SHE INNOCENCE'' with hope it raises concern to all concerned.
