She Is My Rock Poem by Victoria Gauci

She Is My Rock

I am left to my own devices in this world without my Mother.
She was the compass in the maps of my life.
She was my rock, my anchor, my stronghold, ever so bold.
She never steered me wrong.
Her guidance and her calm were fortitude in any weather.

Now what do I do with myself?
I don't know if I am on the right course.
Without her guidance I feel I am a ship lost at sea,
drifting in an unknown direction.
It was the wind in her sails that led me.

I always felt connected, and now I do not.
I may have a hold of my wheel,
but I don't exactly know which way I am to head.
How will I get there without the wind she fed me?
I don't have my compass, just lousy sea legs.

I feel weak and afraid.
How do I make it to my destination without a compass?
I am still afraid to walk the deck of my ship alone.
Can I sail this life by myself?
Can I find the land of my sanctuary
and my balance in the seas to come?
Or will I run?
But where will I run?
Although I believe she could walk on water,
I cannot.
Will I hide?
Will I cry?

I can become my own anchor,
the Captain of my own ship.
Am I strong enough?
Isn't that what she would want for me;
to sail around the world on my own, in my own life?
Will my determination inspire her to feed me her wind?
Will her presence in the skies guide me to what I can be?
Will her loving arms push the wind, to set my sails straight?

She would want me to be my own Captain.
She would want for me to conguer the sea.
Because she knows that to hang onto that wheel,
and guide my own ship,
would be a great accomplishment,
and that would make her proud.

She is my rock.
She is my anchor.
She is my compass.
She is my wind.

In her wind I find my way.
She is leading me, every day.
